A Sweet Start to February – Savoring Time with Jesus 📖

Well, here we are—February! The month of love, chocolate, and at least one person in your life reminding you that it’s a “short month” (as if we hadn’t figured that out by now).

But let’s talk about a different kind of sweetness—time with Jesus. Just like those little candy hearts have messages on them (you know, the ones that taste like chalk but somehow still end up in your pantry), God has written us love notes all over Scripture.

“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” – Psalm 34:8

God doesn’t just say He’s good—He invites us to experience it for ourselves. And just like we take time to savor something sweet, we should take time to soak in His presence. He’s not a rushed cup of drive-thru coffee; He’s a slow, rich, soul-warming kind of love.

Jesus Himself made time with the Father a priority. Even with crowds following Him, miracles waiting to happen, and disciples who probably had way too many questions, He still sought quiet time with God.

“But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” – Luke 5:16

If Jesus needed that time, how much more do we?

So, how can we make time with Jesus even sweeter this month?

1. Start small but steady – If your schedule feels overwhelming, don’t stress about long devotionals. Even a single verse can be powerful when we let it sink in. Try writing it down and keeping it where you’ll see it throughout the day—on your bathroom mirror, fridge, or phone lock screen.

2. Journal a love letter to Jesus – Sometimes, we get caught up in routine prayers, but God loves to hear from our hearts. Write to Him as if He’s sitting right next to you (because He is!). Tell Him what you’re grateful for, what’s weighing on your heart, and how much you love Him.

3. Set a “date” with Him – Just like we carve out time for coffee with a friend, set aside a moment to meet with Jesus. Light a candle, make a cup of tea (or coffee, because we love ourselves), and enjoy uninterrupted time in His Word.

4. Listen for His voice – God speaks through His Word, through His Spirit, and even through the beauty around us. Pause and ask Him to reveal Himself in new ways this month.

Jesus loves you more than any Valentine ever could, and He’s waiting to spend time with you. So let’s make February not just a month of love, but a month of sweet time with our Savior. 💞

Debbie 🙂
