Hello Bloomers! đ¸
Weâre already a few weeks into the new year, and for many of us, those shiny resolutions and goals might already feel a bit tarnished. If thatâs you, donât worryâyouâre not alone. Today, letâs chat about giving ourselves grace, regrouping, and deciding when to push forward or pivot when our New Yearâs goals start to waver.
The Reality of Resolutions
Setting goals at the start of a new year is exciting. Weâre filled with hope and determination. But as the weeks roll on, life happens. Maybe work gets overwhelming, family needs more attention, or unexpected challenges pop up. Itâs easy to feel discouraged when we stumble.
Hereâs the truth: Itâs perfectly okay if youâre not hitting every milestone. Goals are not about perfection; theyâre about progress. And sometimes, progress looks like learning from what didnât work.
Grace Over Guilt
When you find yourself falling short of your goals, the first thing to do is to give yourself grace. Remember that Godâs love for you isnât dependent on your achievements. You are cherished and valued just as you are.
Romans 8:1 reminds us, âTherefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.â This verse is a beautiful reminder that we are free from guilt and shame. Instead, we can embrace Godâs grace and move forward.
Instead of spiraling into guilt or frustration, take a moment to reflect. What were the reasons behind your goals? Are they still relevant to where you are now? Sometimes, our priorities shift, and thatâs okay.

Regroup and Reflect
After giving yourself grace, itâs time to regroup. Here are a few steps to help you refocus:
- Evaluate Your Goals: Were your goals realistic? Maybe they need some tweaking to fit your current circumstances.
- Break It Down: If a goal feels too big, break it into smaller, manageable steps. Celebrate each small win along the way.
- Seek Support: Share your goals with a friend or join a community for accountability and encouragement.
- Pray for Guidance: Ask God to lead you and give you wisdom. He knows the plans He has for you, and His timing is perfect. As Proverbs 3:5-6 says, âTrust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.â
Push Forward or Pivot?
Sometimes, after reflecting, you might find that itâs best to push forward with renewed energy. Other times, it might be more beneficial to pivot and set new goals that align better with your current season of life.
Pushing forward doesnât mean you have to stick rigidly to your original plan. Adjustments are part of the journey. On the other hand, pivoting isnât giving upâitâs making a wise choice to focus your energy where it matters most.
Embrace the Journey
Remember, the journey of personal growth is not a straight line. There will be ups and downs, twists and turns. What matters is that you keep moving forward, even if itâs one small step at a time.
As we continue through this year, letâs commit to being kind to ourselves, to embracing grace, and to finding joy in the process. Youâve got this, and more importantly, Godâs got you!
Until next time, keep blooming where youâre planted. đą
With love and grace,
Debbie đ
