When you grow, you learn to not fear any human being. Whether it be physical threats, legal threats, or just intimidation and demands. Fear is an emotion not given by God, so I refuse to live in it anymore. I allowed it for so many years and let my fear be openly shown, and so that was the obvious way for people to get what they wanted…just say or do the right thing to scare me. But I am not the same person I used to be. I have God’s protection, my church family, my law enforcement, and my own heart and conscience.
- “Fear of man is the enemy of the fear of the Lord. The fear of man pushes us to perform for man’s approval rather than according to God’s directives.” Paul Chappell
I do not respond to intimidation and threats anymore, nor do I let it scare me to the point of inability to function. I simply whisper, “I trust You God, I trust You. Keep me calm and focused on the truths, not pulled in by the lies and threats. I know everything will be okay. I know it will. One step at a time.” And guess what? Those aren’t just words…that is the concrete truth. Let this world and the people in it bring the wrath they feel necessary to satisfy their own wants, needs, and agendas. I will not bend or fold. I will do what is right, in my own time, and in my own way. I will not be forced or scared into any decisions, actions, or compromises.
Everyone has consequences in life, but do not add to yours by becoming saturated with worry, with fear, or by jumping through hoops due to intimidation, demands, or threats. God has you, God has me, and there is nothing we can’t handle in this life. Does that mean it will be rosy and all problems and trials will magically disappear? Not at all. But it does mean that if you trust in God and do what you feel to be right (without falling prey to the enemy and those he is using), you WILL survive the storms.
“The Spirit God gave us does not make us afraid. His Spirit is a source of power and love and self-control.”(2 Timothy 1:7 ERV)
